Catherine, Dublin staff worker, writes:
“This is the first time in over fifteen years the Gospel has been proclaimed so publicly in Geneva” declared Colin, the Director for the Swiss IFES movement (GBEU). I was surprised by this statement considering how Geneva has played such a pivotal role in church history. Yet in many ways Switzerland has become a place of Spiritual darkness and for many Christians their faith is private.
The four day student mission week included lunchtime talks by Pr. John Lennox, Dr. Jurgen Spiess and two students, as well as café-style evening events with Michael Green as the main speaker. At all events the Gospel was clearly explained in a way that engaged the mind and heart. By the end of the week, twelve people indicated they’d become Christians and thirty people said they would like to join a seeker Bible study.
The CU, who approached the week in fear, were amazed at what God had done. Despite the darkness, it became apparent that God was at work in many students who earnestly sought truth and meaning. Please pray for the GBEU as they seek to follow up these people.
