Encounter

The Encounter team is a partnership between IFES Ireland and the World Harvest MAP team, bringing together students from all over Ireland and the United States. It combines 2 weeks of ministry training with 2 weeks of outreach teams in various spots around the Republic of Ireland.

Why consider ENCOUNTER?...
Ireland is worth it...There are real ministry opportunities right here and we want to be part of what God is doing in Ireland.
You're worth it... the training programme is a fundamental part of the encounter team.  We want to invest in you in a way that provides opportunity for you to get to know God more and also in a way that you can bring back to your life, college and church.
Jesus is worthy... We want to see Jesus lifted up across Ireland.  This starts with allowing him to transform our own hearts.

The Encounter team is about God's kingdom advance in IRELAND.  How are you becoming the story of the gospel as well as just communicating it?

ARE YOU IN?!
The venue is Greystones and the dates are 8 June - 8 July 2008. For more info contact Lorraine

France

WHO?
Western Europe faces increasing challenges, with so-called ‘tolerance' from a secular agenda on the one hand, combined with authorities' uncertainty about how to handle the growing influence of Islam on the other. There are increasing restrictions on religious activities on campuses and the national movements need your prayers for wisdom, creativity and boldness.
The French IFES movement (GBU - Groupes Bibliques Universitaires) is a network of local student groups committed to evangelism, "formación" (holistic training) and mission. They aim to see students reaching students in France with the gospel of Christ and living as witnessing communities of salt and light in every area of society and culture.

WHAT?
We are sending a team of students from Ireland to serve the GBU by working alongside French students at their "Camp d'Amitié" in Paris.  The programme will include training in evangelism and contextualisation of the gospel (particularly the French student context); prayer walks; street evangelism (questionnaires, invitations to events) and organising evangelistic evenings: international evenings, debates, bible studies and talks.  There will also be time to learn and grow with French students and to taste a little of the delights of Paris!

A moderate level of French is preferable - it doesn't have to be perfect, but having the confidence to have a go is essential.

WHEN?
29 June - 8 July

COST: approx £290/€400 plus flights

TRAINING
There is an option to combine this team with the Encounter ministry training in Greystones, Ireland between 8-20th June for £265/€360

Peru

peru mapFollowing on from the links established in summer 2007 with AGEUP (the Peruvian IFES movement), IFES Ireland in partnership with Latin Link will be sending another team to Peru.

The vibrancy of Latin America sits in sharp contrast to the poverty, immorality and instability which undermine its societies. An army of whole-life disciples is needed to transform those communities to fullness. IFES works with students to bring to life God's love and truth. AGEUP has  a vision for a bright future, where all can experience fullness of life.

Passion shines from AGEUP Director Juan's eyes as he shares how students in Peru are giving hope to societies where inequalities abound: play areas instead of rubbish heaps, education and medical treatment in place of neglect, God's love in place of despair.
The team will be working alongside staff and students from AGEUP in the Ica region which is still recovering from the effects of an earthquake in August 2007 to bring some of that love and hope.

There are a couple of places left on the team with likely dates 6 July - 7 August and cost of £1550/€2325.
The Peru team is now full
