A faithful friend
Rachel Montgomery from QUB CU writes...
The Lord is a faithful God. This is something I have known for many years but which has become much more meaningful as I have experienced it first-hand. God has taught me so much during my first year at QUB. I moved into Christian halls but during the first week my room-mate told me she wasn't a Christian and I began to feel anxious about the year ahead. Naturally we spent a lot of time together and as our friendship grew so did my desire to share my faith with her. Although we had a few conversations about spiritual things during the first semester I felt I lacked courage. However God was at work in her heart by His Spirit and after Christmas she was very open with me. I didn't have to search for opportunities as she asked many questions and even wanted to study the Bible with me. Then, just before Easter, my friend gave her life to Jesus. How amazing it is to see the Lord at work.
God was with me throughout this time and teaching me to depend on Him. I did nothing except allow God to use me. He gave me the opportunities to talk to my room-mate and the words and wisdom I needed. He answered my prayers and the prayers of many others. And I wasn't alone - my room-mate had other Christian friends who had been an influence on her long before I met her. Ultimately, it was God who saved her and worked a miracle in her life, as only He can do. When I look at how God worked in me and my room-mate I am humbled by His greatness and love.
